seemed to have been the most favored in terms of features, power,
functionality and flexibility for use in the design and development of both
simple and sophisticated sites. But everyone was also unanimous in
their opinions that, though a monster of a CMS, it was also a
nightmare to learn how to design Joomla websites.
The promise of what could be (financially) achievable by having my own local portal and offering my Joomla web design services seemed realistic…
…except that I could only design websites (and static ones at that) with HTML editors, like many other web designers out there.
Here
I was, a fulltime college student, working to make a living, doing my
own little online marketing and the meager income that came with it.
But
if I was to be able to realize what the aforementioned threads
promised, I had to polish my web design skills…seriously.
So,
But there were not enough Joomla tutorials available and where they were, they were usually flash or articles. So, I invaded Youtube, sort out these
scattered all over the web and finally, after a few weeks, put up my
first Joomla site using the Joomla 1.0 version.
A few weeks later, I realized that 1.5 was actually the latest version. But most of the tutorials online were still about 1.0. So, I had to embark on another Joomla training and stumbled my way through the interface until I finally figured it out.(I had no other choice anyway, but it paid off BIG time.)
By November of last year, I had my own:
- Local Joomla community portal, with its own in-built business directory
- Joomla article directory
- Real estate website
- Books site (that was hacked in the middle of the year

- And other types of Joomla websites...

I had become a very comfortable Joomla website designer.
